April 21, 2008

CHARLES ADAMS, dob: 8/16/1959 of Wichita, KS was sentenced last Thursday to six (6) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections with probation denied for the class C felony of Tampering in the First Degree by the Taney County Circuit Judge Mark Orr.

On November 4, 2006 Taney County Deputy Jeff McDaniel responded to a vehicle theft at the 76 Conoco on Gretna Road.
Less then twenty minutes later Sgt. Pat Gray of the Branson Police Department observed the vehicle traveling down MO. 76. Sgt. Gray stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, CHARLES ADAMS.

In response to the sentence, Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey M. Merrell stated “without the fast response of the Taney County Sherriff’s Department and the Branson Police Department, the defendant would never have been apprehended.
Thankfully another career criminal has been removed from the Taney County community.”

The class C felony of Tampering in the first degree carries a range of punishment of one (1) day to seven (7) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections or one (1) day to one (1) year in the Taney County Jail and/or a fine not to exceed $5,000.
