The Taney County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is asking for community assistance through donations for the “Shop with a Hero†program. The Shop with a Hero program is sponsored by the local Wal-Mart stores, several other local businesses and all emergency response agencies in Taney County. The Taney County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has been participating in this program since 2007. This year we are joining in helping raise funds to keep this program alive. Since Shop with a Hero was started in 2003, the program has been able to assist young children in having a better Christmas through donations from community members. Each child that is selected is paired up with an officer (police, fire or ambulance personnel) and the officer helps the child in picking out items to be used for Christmas gifts. This year the goal has been raised to 150 children. Wal-Mart plans to donate approximately $8000.00 to assist the children. Our goal is to raise an additional $7000.00. There are many children from Taney and Stone Counties that benefit from this program. This involves more than just the children shopping; it builds relationships between emergency responders and the children.
Please join us in helping to raise funds for this wonderful program by pledging your support today. These young children are the future of our community our office believes this program benefits them a great deal by allowing them to have a better and more memorable Christmas than they may have, without a program like “Shop with a Heroâ€.
