Taney County Prosecuting Attorney, Jeffrey M. Merrell announced today that PETER NEWMAN, dob: 10-30-1975 entered a plea of guilty today without a plea agreement in front of Taney County Circuit Judge Mark Orr to two counts of the unclassified felony of statutory sodomy in the first degree, three counts of the unclassified felony of enticement of a child, and two counts of the class C felony of statutory sodomy in the second degree.

Formal sentencing is set for April 30, 2010 at 9:00am. No agreement was made as to sentence. PETER NEWMAN faces a minimum punishment of five (5) years and a maximum punishment of one hundred and seventy-one (171) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for these offenses. Each count of the unclassified felony of enticement of a child has a range of punishment of not less than five (5) years and not more than thirty (30) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. No person convicted for enticement of a child shall be eligible for parole or probation for a period of five (5) calendar years. Each count of the unclassified felony of statutory sodomy in the first degree carries a range of punishment of five (5) to thirty (30) years, or life imprisonment in the Missouri Department of Corrections. Each count of the class C felony of statutory sodomy in the second degree has a range of punishment of one (1) day to one (1) year in the Taney County Jail, or one (1) year to seven (7) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections and/or a fine not to exceed five thousand (5,000) dollars.

With this plea of guilty PETER NEWMAN will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from the Department of Corrections.
