With election season upon us, Taney County Prosecuting Attorney, Jeff Merrell and Sheriff Jimmie Russell would like to remind everybody to be respectful of campaign signs placed throughout our community.
Individuals that are caught stealing campaign signs or damaging campaign signs face up to a year in jail and/or a $1,000 dollar fine for each sign. If you are caught in possession of stolen signs you could face up to six months in jail and/or a fine not to exceed $500 for each individual sign. Finally, please remember to ask before placing campaign signs on a person’s property. Trespassing carries a punishment of up to a $200.00 fine for each individual occurrence.
