FORSYTH, MO – Taney County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey M. Merrell announced today that CORY DEAN WETER (d.o.b.: 06/01/1978) of Sparta, Missouri, entered a guilty plea this week, without a plea agreement, to the class C felony of domestic assault in the second degree. Formal sentencing is scheduled for July 14, 2011.

On March 4, 2011, Corporal Dan Luttrell with the Taney County Sheriff’s Department, was dispatched to an address on Robin Road, in Rockaway Beach, to investigate a domestic disturbance. When he arrived, he met with a female who was standing in the driveway across the road from her home. Upon speaking with her, Corporal Luttrell was able to determine that the woman’s roommate, Cory Weter, had gotten angry and grabbed the woman by the hair, slamming her head into a wall. Corporal Luttrell observed that the woman had a cut on her lip. Other deputies arrived and observed a large knot on the woman’s head, as well as a large hole in the drywall of the woman’s home, which was consistent with a head being shoved into the wall. Weter had been living with the woman in her home.

Formal sentencing is set for July 14, 2011. This is a class C Felony offense and the range of punishment is one (1) day to one (1) year in the Taney County Jail, or up to seven (7) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, and/or a fine not to exceed $5,000.
