On Thursday, February 14, 2013, Jennifer Townsend a/k/a Jennifer Trainer, d/o/b 10-14-1982, will appear in the Circuit Court of Taney County in order to schedule a sentencing date, after being found guilty of domestic assault in the second degree, armed criminal action, and felonious restraint. Circuit Court Judge Mark Orr announced on January 25, 2013, that he found Townsend guilty of the three (3) felonies after having presided over a bench trial on January 23, 2013.
Townsend was charged with the felonies after cutting a roommate during an argument over some personal property, on August 14, 2012. Townsend was living with the victim in a house on Gailwood, in Branson. Townsend had been drinking and confronted the victim in her bedroom – with a knife – where she was sleeping. The victim’s hand was cut during the altercation, before Townsend forced her into a bathroom and held the door shut. Fortunately, another overnight guest at the house called Branson Police who intervened in the fight – taking the knife from Townsend.
Domestic assault in the second degree and felonious restraint are class C felonies, and each carries a maximum penalty not to exceed seven (7) years in prison and/or a $5,000.00 fine. Armed criminal action is an unclassified felony with a minimum sentence of three (3) years in prison, and no maximum sentence.
