On Thursday, April 18, 2013, Jennifer Townsend a/k/a Jennifer Trainer, d/o/b 10-14-1982, was sentenced to seven (7) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections on three (3) felonies: domestic assault in the second degree, armed criminal action, and felonious restraint. Circuit Court Judge Mark Orr found Townsend guilty of the three (3) felonies after having presided over a bench trial on January 23, 2013.
Townsend was charged with the felonies after cutting a roommate during an argument over some personal property, on August 14, 2012. Townsend was living with the victim in a house on Gailwood, in Branson. Townsend had been drinking and confronted the victim in her bedroom – with a knife – where she was sleeping. The victim’s hand was cut during the altercation, before Townsend forced her into a bathroom and held the door shut. Fortunately, another overnight guest at the house called Branson Police who intervened in the fight, taking the knife from Townsend.
Domestic assault in the second degree and felonious restraint are both class C felonies, carrying a maximum prison sentence of seven (7) years. Armed criminal action is an unclassified felony carrying a minimum of three (3) years in prison, with no maximum sentence. Townsend’s prison sentences are to run concurrently with one another.
