At the recent bi-annual statewide prosecutor conference at Tan-Tar-A Resort at Osage Beach, Missouri, Taney County Prosecuting Attorney Jeff Merrell accepted a nomination to serve as Treasurer for the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys. Known generally by its acronym “MAPA”, the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys is made up of the 115 elected prosecutors serving in the State of Missouri – representing Missouri’s 114 counties and the City of St. Louis.

Following his acceptance of the nomination, Merrell was elected to serve as MAPA’s Treasurer for the one-year term beginning October 1, 2013, and ending in October of 2014.

“It’s really an honor to have been selected to serve,” says Merrell. “Although there’s plenty of work to be done within our office day-to-day, I also recognize the importance of serving the needs of my fellow prosecutors throughout the state.”

Merrell adds, “MAPA has made great strides under its leadership these past few years. I just hope that I can do my part to continue carrying the torch in the direction of progress.”
