Taney County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey M. Merrell announced today that JEREMY C. HICKMAN, d/o/b: 9-19-1974, of Kirbyville, Missouri, entered a guilty plea – without any agreement as to what sentence he will receive – to the class C felony of domestic assault in the second degree and the class D felony of unlawful use of a weapon. Formal sentencing is scheduled for February 13, 2014.
On August 2, 2011, deputies with the Taney County Sheriff’s Office were notified of a past domestic assault having occurred at an address on Twin Oaks, in Kirbyville, August 1, 2011. It was alleged by a woman that Hickman had been drinking and was angry, that Hickman brandished a loaded gun, and then kicked the woman. The deputies’ investigation resulted in the arrest of Hickman.
Although there is no plea agreement about the sentence Hickman may receive from the Court, prosecutors have dismissed three (3) other counts against Hickman in exchange for his plea of guilty. The class C felony of domestic assault in the second degree carries a range of punishment from one (1) day to one (1) year in the Taney County Jail, or up to seven (7) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, and/or a fine not to exceed $5,000. The class D felony of unlawful use of a weapon carries a range of punishment from one (1) day to one (1) year in the Taney County Jail, or up to four (4) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, and/or a fine not to exceed $5,000.
