On Thursday afternoon, June 21, 2012, in the Circuit Court of Taney County, Judge Mark Orr sentenced Michael R. Green (d.o.b. 11-20-1984) of Hollister, to twenty (20) years in prison for involuntary manslaughter in the first degree. Green had previously pleaded guilty to the charge on April 12, 2012, that stemmed from a car crash that killed Jessica Jenkins and Nicole Porter, in which Green was driving at excessive speeds, with a blood-alcohol level of over 0.16%.

Involuntary manslaughter in the first degree is a class B felony, which normally carries a maximum sentence of fifteen (15) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. However, Green was charged by the Taney County Prosecutor’s Office as a prior and persistent felony offender, meaning he had at least two (2) prior, unrelated felony convictions. The enhanced charge raised Green’s maximum sentence to thirty (30) years in prison.
