On Thursday, November 15, 2012, in the Circuit Court of Taney County, MICHAEL T. ROBBINS, d/o/b/ 11-29-1987, of Rockaway Beach, entered a plea of guilty to statutory rape in the second degree, and received a four (4) year sentence in the Missouri Department of Corrections. Circuit Court Judge Mark Orr sentenced Robbins pursuant to a plea agreement made between the defendant and the Taney County Prosecutor’s Office.
The evidence in the case against Robbins was that, for over one week in January and February of 2012, a sixteen-year-old female was staying with Robbins and his family in Rockaway Beach. During that time, the victim later disclosed, Robbins provided her alcohol and pills, and had sexual intercourse with her. The girls’ disclosure was supported by DNA evidence obtained by law enforcement officers with the Taney County Sheriff’s Office. Although Robbins initially denied that he had sex with the girl, he later admitted his actions.
Statutory rape in the second degree is a class C felony, carrying a maximum sentence of seven (7) years and/or a $5,000.00 fine.
