On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, ALEXANDER J. VAUGHN, d/o/b 1-16-1994, formerly of Kirbyville, Missouri, entered guilty pleas to felony sex crimes in two (2) separate cases, in the Circuit Court of Taney County. Circuit Judge Tony Williams accepted the guilty pleas and sentenced Vaughn, pursuant to a plea agreement, to ten (10) years in prison for sodomy in the first degree, and eight (8) years in prison for child molestation in the first degree. By agreement, Vaughn’s sentences are to run concurrently with one another.
Vaughn was arrested by Taney County Sheriff’s deputies on March 19, 2016, after a woman was awakened in the living room of Vaughn’s apartment by Vaughn having oral sex with her. The woman left Vaughn’s home right away and contacted law enforcement. Vaughn appeared intoxicated when deputies arrived and he made admissions to deputies about the crime. While awaiting trial on the sodomy charge from March, Vaughn was investigated and charged for allegedly molesting a six-year-old child early in 2016, while at home alone with the child.
Sodomy in the first degree – as charged in Vaughn’s case – is an unclassified felony, carrying a range of punishment from five (5) years to life in the Missouri Department of Corrections. The class B felony of child molestation in the first degree carries a range of punishment from five (5) years to fifteen (15) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
